Jeffersonville, IN – A swollen leg discovered during pick-up led to felony charges against Brittany Baylor, a 35-year-old Jeffersonville resident and home-based childcare provider. Baylor faces serious allegations following an investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP).
The incident came to light in February 2024 when a family member noticed that a 2-month-old child, picked up from Baylor’s unlicensed, in-home daycare, had a swollen and sensitive leg. The infant was taken to Norton’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville, where doctors found the child had a broken right leg. According to a report prepared by a Norton’s Pediatric Protection Specialist, the injury was consistent with inflicted child physical abuse.
According to ISP Detective Mike Bennett, the investigation involved multiple interviews and coordination with the Indiana Department of Child Services. On July 22, 2024, Detective Bennett submitted the findings to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant. Baylor was subsequently charged while already being held at the Clark County Jail on unrelated charges.
