Warsaw, IN – A routine traffic stop on U.S. 30 turned into a major break in an Amazon burglary case, leading to the arrest of four individuals accused of stealing over $11,000 worth of merchandise from semi-trailers in Indiana.
Indiana State Police pulled over a speeding vehicle Friday morning near Warsaw and were met with a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. The occupants — identified as Shaquetta Capps, 31; James Lott Jr., 33; Quantral Davis, 31; and Isreael Davis, 27 — were questioned on the roadside.
A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered black ski masks, gloves, bolt cutters, and several trash bags filled with new speakers and battery chargers. Troopers also found multiple shipping labels tied to Amazon deliveries.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, just hours earlier around 9:40 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary at the Amazon Distribution Center in Fort Wayne. Employees reported that someone had cut through the chain-link fence and broken into multiple semi-trailers on site, stealing a range of products.
Officers on scene confirmed the fence had been breached with bolt cutters and discovered several empty boxes scattered near the trailers.
Amazon staff later verified the recovered merchandise found during the U.S. 30 traffic stop, matching the shipping labels to the stolen inventory. The total value of items taken was estimated at $11,172.05.
All four suspects were taken into custody and face preliminary charges of burglary, a Level 5 felony, and theft, a Level 6 felony. They are also facing charges related to marijuana possession.
