The agency urges residents in Phoenix Metro, Yuma, and Imperial Valley to take frequent breaks in air conditioning and limit time outside during peak afternoon hours.
Phoenix Metro can expect highs between 105°F and 110°F, with overnight lows barely dropping below 80°F. Yuma will see similar extremes, ranging from 105°F to 108°F, while Imperial Valley could peak at a blistering 113°F on Friday. In Globe and Miami, temperatures will hover in the upper 90s with a slight chance of storms from Sunday through Tuesday, bringing little relief from the muggy heat.
Officials advise drinking plenty of water, checking on vulnerable neighbors, and never leaving children or pets in vehicles. Those with outdoor plans should try to finish early in the morning or late in the evening.
The heatwave is expected to persist through at least Tuesday, with more advisories possible if dry conditions continue.
