Palos Township, IL – A 21-year-old woman who was reported missing earlier this week has been found dead near a popular walking trail in the Spear Woods Forest Preserve, according to information shared by local residents.

Reanna Hammad had last been seen Tuesday morning around 11 a.m., with her car later located near 87th Street and La Grange Road in the Palos area. A search party was organized Wednesday by family members, volunteers, and law enforcement after she failed to return home.

According to posts circulated in local community safety apps, Hammad’s body was discovered Wednesday afternoon near the wooded trail where her vehicle had been located. The area is frequently used by joggers and hikers.

Authorities have not released official details regarding the cause or circumstances surrounding her death, and an investigation is ongoing. Community leaders and friends have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information as they await official findings.

In a message shared within the Muslim community and circulated widely on social media, residents expressed grief and called for increased awareness and caution, especially when using secluded trails. “Never, ever go places alone, whether girls or boys—always be with a friend or more,” the statement advised.

The community continues to call for prayers and support for the Hammad family as they await further answers.

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact local authorities.
