New Lenox, IL – A New Lenox man was arrested this week following an investigation into the alleged possession and distribution of child pornography, police announced Thursday.

According to the New Lenox Police Department, officers took 22-year-old Jacob T. Briggs, of the 1200 block of Timber Place, into custody on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Briggs faces one count of Dissemination of Child Pornography (Class X Felony) and four counts of Possession of Child Pornography (Class 2 Felony).

Investigators said the case began in July 2025, when the department’s Investigations Unit received a tip that a local resident was allegedly downloading and sharing child pornography through a mobile application. Detectives identified Briggs as the suspected user and obtained a search warrant for his residence.

On October 22, New Lenox Police executed the warrant with assistance from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Authorities seized several electronic devices that reportedly contained explicit material involving minors.

Briggs was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility pending a pre-trial detention hearing.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could follow as digital evidence is reviewed.

Residents with information about online child exploitation are urged to report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or local law enforcement.
