Chicago, IL – Expect a summer-like week ahead as warm temperatures return to Illinois, with highs reaching into the low 80s for most areas. However, the heat will be tempered by more moderate conditions near Lake Michigan, where cooler temperatures are expected through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, today will see highs ranging from 73°F to 84°F, but spots along the lake could experience cooler temperatures due to fog and light rain. Along with these warm temperatures, moderate humidity will bring a slight chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially as the day progresses.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, highs will be slightly cooler near the lake, with temperatures reaching between 71°F and 81°F. Areas away from the lake will likely see highs in the low 80s. Scattered showers remain a possibility, particularly overnight into Wednesday. By Wednesday, isolated thunderstorms are expected, with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
Thursday and Friday will see breezy conditions, with temperatures jumping into the low 90s on Thursday, which could bring the possibility of afternoon severe storms. Friday will be windy, but temperatures will slightly cool down to the low 80s, with the chance for a few more showers.
Stay alert to changing weather conditions, especially if you have outdoor plans or travel.
