CHICAGO, Ill. – Thunderstorms could rattle parts of the Chicago metro late Monday, bringing brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning before cooler, clearer weather settles in midweek. According to the National Weather Service, storms may develop after 4 p.m. and linger into the evening, with the strongest cells possible near Lake County and the western suburbs. West winds will shift north overnight, pulling in cooler air as lows dip to the mid-60s.

Tuesday starts breezy and mostly clear, with lingering morning showers east of downtown. Highs will fall to the low 70s under mostly sunny skies, marking the start of a mild, dry pattern expected through the rest of the week.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and plan for slick evening commutes Monday. Drier, sunny weather will dominate from Wednesday through Friday, with highs in the low 60s and overnight lows in the upper 40s.
