Chicago, IL – Heavy, wind-driven snow will continue impacting northern Illinois through early Thursday morning, with the highest accumulations expected south of I-88 and north of the Kankakee River. Travelers should prepare for hazardous conditions, including sharply reduced visibility and slick roads.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, snowfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches, with localized higher amounts. Wind gusts of up to 45 mph will exacerbate visibility issues, creating dangerous travel conditions. The most significant impacts will occur in areas near and south of I-90, particularly on major roadways such as I-88.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of the region through 7 a.m. Thursday. Commuters should plan for extra travel time, drive cautiously, and stay updated on road conditions. Officials urge drivers to slow down and allow for increased stopping distance as blowing snow reduces visibility.
