Chicago, IL – Residents across northern Illinois can expect a stretch of warm, mostly dry weather heading into next week, though isolated storms remain possible east of I-65 Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service Chicago, showers and storms may linger east of I-65 tonight before conditions turn dry across most of the region. Overnight lows are forecast between 62 and 65 degrees. Patchy fog could also develop in some areas.
Sunday through Wednesday will bring a return of summer-like heat with highs ranging from 82 to 92 degrees inland, while cooler conditions will prevail along Lake Michigan, where highs will stay closer to the 70s and near 80. Overnight lows each night will remain in the low to mid-60s.
The NWS outlook highlights “another period of warm and dry conditions” through the middle of next week, with no significant rain chances for the Chicago metro, northern Illinois, or northwest Indiana. That could extend ongoing dry patterns for local farmers and residents.
Those spending time near the lakefront should prepare for cooler breezes, while inland areas will feel hotter and more humid. The warm stretch may also raise concerns for late-season heat stress, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Residents are encouraged to monitor daily forecasts, especially tonight east of I-65, where storms could produce locally heavy rain before moving out.
