Chicago, IL — Thunderstorms will sweep into the Chicago metro area overnight Friday into Saturday, bringing hail, gusty winds, and travel hazards.
The National Weather Service warns that scattered storms may produce hail up to 1 inch in diameter, especially between Joliet and Hebron along the I-55 corridor. Some storms could turn severe by early Saturday morning. Gusts may reach 45 mph through Friday night into Saturday afternoon, posing a risk to high-profile vehicles and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service, storm activity is expected to move east-northeast at 40 mph beginning late Friday night and tapering off midday Saturday. Saturday will begin wet, with morning rain and patchy fog before skies partially clear in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid-60s.
Sunday brings another round of widespread showers with a 90% chance of rain throughout the day. Thunderstorms could turn strong again, particularly east of I-57.

- Tuesday: Mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the low 40s.
