Chicago, IL – Illinois residents should prepare for gusty winds and scattered rain showers in Chicago on Wednesday, as cooler temperatures settle in across the Midwest. After Election Day’s rainy and breezy night, drier conditions will emerge Wednesday, though a brisk northwest wind will continue impacting the area. Temperatures will range from the mid-50s during the day to the low 40s at night.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday’s wind gusts could reach up to 35 mph, so commuters are advised to exercise caution, particularly on exposed roadways like Lake Shore Drive. The city is expected to see partly sunny skies with a high of 55 degrees, a notable drop from Tuesday’s humid upper 60s. By Wednesday night, temperatures will dip into the upper 40s, accompanied by lighter winds and mostly clear skies.

Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday will bring calmer, sunnier weather with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the mid-40s. These days are ideal for any outdoor activities, with sunny skies and mild conditions forecasted. However, residents should be prepared for a shift starting Saturday afternoon, as another chance of rain returns, potentially lasting into Sunday. Saturday’s high will reach near 60, with light winds providing a brief calm before Sunday’s likely rain showers.

Local residents should take advantage of the dry weather on Thursday and Friday to complete any outdoor plans or home preparations for the colder season. For those planning weekend activities, checking updated forecasts may be wise, as rainfall could affect events scheduled for Sunday.
