Champaign, IL – February kicks off with changing weather conditions in Central Illinois, bringing fog, drizzle, and an increasing chance of rain midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, fog and drizzle are expected Saturday night, with temperatures dropping into the low 30s. Motorists should be cautious of slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses. Sunday will bring patchy fog early, followed by mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-50s.

Monday is expected to be mild, with highs reaching the upper 50s before rain chances increase late Tuesday into Wednesday. A few thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening as temperatures hover in the mid-40s.

Drivers along Interstate 74 and U.S. Route 150 should watch for reduced visibility overnight and potential slick conditions due to freezing drizzle. The National Weather Service advises giving extra stopping distance when traveling.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast suggests above-normal temperatures through midweek before a potential cooldown. Residents should stay updated on changing conditions, especially with rain and thunderstorms in the forecast.
