Chicago, Ill. – A stretch of mild, mostly dry weather is expected across Illinois and Indiana during the spring break travel window, offering a break from winter disruptions and keeping roads largely clear.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, both states will see near-normal to slightly above-normal temperatures from March 24 through March 30, with precipitation trending near normal but limited in overall impact. This setup favors extended dry periods with only isolated rain chances.

Across Chicago, Rockford, Indianapolis, and Fort Wayne, daytime highs will reach the 50s to near 60 degrees, with cooler mornings in the 30s and 40s. Major routes including I-90, I-94, I-65, and I-70 are expected to remain mostly dry, supporting steady travel across the region.

Drivers should remain alert for patchy morning fog and occasional damp spots on shaded roads, particularly in low-lying areas, but widespread hazards are not expected. Daytime travel will offer the best conditions and visibility.

For baseball fans across Illinois and Indiana, including those following the Cubs, White Sox, and regional teams, the opening stretch of the season should feature comfortable conditions, with light layers likely sufficient.

This stable pattern is expected to hold through late March, with only minor changes possible heading into early April.
