Chicago, Ill. – Holiday plans across Illinois may face disruptions starting Thursday, as another round of storms moves in before calmer and cooler conditions settle in for Easter weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, Thursday carries the highest impact period, with widespread showers and thunderstorms likely across northern Illinois. Storm chances range from 80 to 100 percent, and some storms could become strong, bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, and lightning into the evening hours.
Conditions improve by Friday, though cooler air settles in, especially near Lake Michigan. Highs will range from the mid-50s to mid-70s statewide, with mostly dry weather expected during the day before any late activity develops.
By Saturday, another system may bring scattered showers back into the region, with rain chances between 60 and 80 percent. Breezy conditions will continue, with highs generally in the 60s, which could impact outdoor events and travel.
Easter Sunday trends drier, with skies gradually clearing and temperatures holding in the low to mid-60s across much of Illinois. While cooler than earlier in the week, conditions will be more favorable for outdoor gatherings.
Residents should prepare for Thursday’s storms, monitor updates for Saturday rain chances, and plan around improving conditions by Sunday as the weekend progresses.
