OTTAWA, IL – A 14-year-old boy lost his life after a drowning incident at the Hi-Tide Campground in Leland.
According to LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Campground following reports of the drowning Friday afternoon. The young victim was immediately transported to Valley West Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
Despite all efforts, the young boy succumbed to the tragedy Saturday. The incident is currently under investigation by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The victim has not been identified by the agency.
Authorities are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure the safety of future visitors to the campground.
