Illinois Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Charges in Danville Friday Night

Danville, IL – A Friday night traffic stop in Danville ended with two men in custody on weapon-related charges, authorities said.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers with the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit initiated a stop around 9 p.m. on March 21 in the area of Gilbert and Williams Streets after observing a moving violation. Officers made contact with two men inside the vehicle, later identified as 19-year-old Alex Doe and 19-year-old Joshua S. Brocks, both of Danville.

During the stop, officers allegedly observed a firearm inside the vehicle. Following further investigation, authorities determined neither man could legally possess the weapon. Both were arrested and transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building.

Alex Doe, who was reportedly on probation in Vermilion County, was booked for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Joshua S. Brocks was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Police emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
