Marshall County, IL — Late Sunday evening, two EF1 tornadoes touched down in Marshall County, Illinois, causing significant damage but no injuries or fatalities. One tornado impacted a mobile home park north of Henry, while the other tracked through the Lake Wildwood area.
According to the National Weather Service, the Henry tornado, rated EF1 with peak winds of 90 mph, occurred between 11:40 p.m. and 11:42 p.m. The tornado had a path length of 0.45 miles and a maximum width of 50 yards. It caused mostly straight-line wind damage, snapping hardwood trees and uprooting softwood trees, some of which were positioned cyclonically. Heavy damage occurred to some mobile homes but not all, mainly due to hardwood debris and straight-line winds.
The Lake Wildwood tornado, also rated EF1, touched down between 11:42 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. with peak winds reaching 100 mph. This tornado had a path length of 6.33 miles and a maximum width of 100 yards. It tracked southeast from just east of the Illinois River near Billsbach Lake, causing extensive tree damage near Lake Wildwood.
The National Weather Service continues to evaluate the storm damage from Monday. Residents are advised to remain alert to weather updates and take precautions during severe weather events.
