Illinois to stop daily COVID-19 briefings, 1.6k cases Friday

As Illinois moves into Phase 3 today, the State of Illinois announced Friday afternoon daily COVID-19 updates will no longer occur after 82 days of daily briefings.

The daily updates will be replaced by briefings on an as needed basis, beginning next week.   Daily numbers will continue to be released by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

On Friday, IDPH announced 1,622 new cases of COVID-19, including 86 new deaths.  Edgar County began reporting cases on Friday, leaving only one of Illinois 102 counties without a case of COVID-19.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been 117,455 cases of the pandemic, including 5,270 deaths to date across  101 counties in Illinois.
