Palos Park, IL – A 14-year-old boy riding an electric bike was struck by a vehicle Monday night in a hit-and-run incident in Palos Park, according to local authorities.

According to the Palos Park Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. Monday to the 12700 block of 80th Avenue after reports of a crash involving a teen crossing the intersection on an E-bike from east to west. The boy was hit by a northbound vehicle that allegedly fled the scene.

Authorities said the vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Ford F-150, appeared to initially stop before allegedly fleeing the area. Investigators canvassed the neighborhood and are now reviewing surveillance footage and other electronic evidence to identify the suspect vehicle.

Police believe the pickup was seen turning from northbound 80th Avenue to eastbound 123rd Street within a minute of the first 911 call reporting the crash.

The 14-year-old was transported to Christ Advocate Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment of injuries. His condition has not been disclosed.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Palos Park Police Department at 708-448-2191.
