Granite City, IL – The Illinois State Police (ISP) and FBI have joined a statewide search for 26-year-old DJ Marshall of Granite City, who allegedly shot a Granite City Police officer Friday afternoon before fleeing on foot.
According to a release from ISP, the shooting occurred around 2:19 p.m. on December 5 in the 2000 block of Johnson Road in Granite City. When officers arrived at the scene and encountered Marshall, he allegedly opened fire, striking one officer before escaping.
The injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Authorities describe Marshall as armed and dangerous. The ongoing search involves K9 units, aircraft, and multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Granite City Police Department.
Residents are urged not to approach Marshall if spotted, and instead call 911 immediately. Officials continue to monitor the situation and say updates will be released as they become available.
