GIBSON CITY, Ill. – Authorities are actively searching for a 70-year-old man allegedly involved in a shooting that injured two law enforcement officers early Saturday in Ford County.

According to the Illinois State Police, officers from the Gibson City Police Department and the Ford County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 2:31 a.m. Saturday to the 100 block of Ash Street after reports of a naked man. The man, identified as David Jordan, allegedly opened fire as officers attempted to make contact at his residence, striking a GCPD officer and an FCSO deputy.

Police said the six-year veteran deputy was allegedly shot in the left knee and arm, while the GCPD officer, who has served for one year, was allegedly struck in the left hip. Neither officer returned fire. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment and released on Sunday. They are now on paid administrative leave.

Authorities emphasized that Jordan is not believed to pose an active threat to the public, but residents are urged not to approach him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact local police or submit tips through the ISP Crime Tip website.

ISP continues to investigate and review leads. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
