Springfield, IL – A commercial motor vehicle crash on I-55 northbound near milepost 52 has led to the closure of the highway, Illinois State Police Troop 8 reported.
The crash, which occurred around 2:10 p.m., involved a vehicle carrying hazardous materials. Police have not confirmed a spill but are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as a precaution.
