Forsyth, IL – Illinois State Police say five men were arrested in Macon County during a two-day human trafficking demand suppression operation targeting individuals allegedly seeking to engage in commercial sex acts.

According to Illinois State Police (ISP), the operation took place Thursday and Friday in the Forsyth area. Members of the ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Trafficking Enforcement Group, working with multiple state and local agencies, carried out the arrests between August 21 and 22, 2025.

Those arrested face a range of charges including indecent solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a minor, solicitation to meet a child, and grooming. ISP identified the men as Thad E. Olson, 58, of Bloomington; Robert W. Danbury, 34, of Decatur; David R. Martin, 69, of Bethany; Benito Rojas-Martinez, 54, of Urbana; and Luke V. Nguyen, 54, of Peoria. Each is facing multiple Class 3 and Class 4 felony charges.

ISP said the effort was part of a broader initiative to combat human trafficking in Illinois. The Illinois Trafficking Enforcement Group partnered with several task forces and specialized units, including the ISP SWAT team, intelligence support units, and the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Authorities stressed that human trafficking often involves coercion, force, or fraud, and said they remain committed to protecting vulnerable individuals across the state. ISP urged the public to be alert to potential signs of trafficking and report suspicious activity.

The National Human Trafficking Hotline can be reached at 1-888-373-7888 or texted at 233733. More resources are available at humantraffickinghotline.org.

Police noted that charges are not evidence of guilt. All five men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
