Springfield, IL – The Illinois State Police (ISP) is urging the public to maintain vigilance during the holiday season amidst heightened global tensions, particularly due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly emphasized the importance of public awareness against terrorism and hate crimes, especially at events of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faiths. The Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center (STIC), in collaboration with the FBI, is monitoring potential threats, with particular attention to lone actors who might be influenced by foreign terrorist organizations. These individuals often use simple, unpredictable tactics.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to local law enforcement or call 911 for immediate threats. ISP is actively engaging with faith communities and remains on high alert to ensure safety during this period.

Further information on personal safety and preparedness can be found on the Ready Illinois website.
