Springfield, IL – Illinois is marking a century of conservation with a striking new collection of vintage-inspired posters and sticker packs, honoring some of the state’s most beloved parks and historic sites.
According to the Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF), the limited-edition series highlights 12 iconic locations, from the dramatic frozen falls of Starved Rock to the rare wetlands of the Cache River. Each design channels the bold aesthetic of the Works Progress Administration (WPA)-era, aiming to inspire a new generation to explore and protect Illinois’ natural treasures.
“This series is a powerful tribute to the places that have shaped Illinois’ natural identity over the past 100 years,” said Natalie Phelps Finnie, director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), which is celebrating its centennial in 2025. Finnie added that the parks and historic sites “belong to all of us here in Illinois,” underscoring IDNR’s pride in honoring their legacy through art.
Featured parks in the series include Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach, Apple River Canyon, Cache River, Cave-in-Rock, Giant City, Illinois Caverns, Lincoln’s New Salem, Lowden, Old State Capitol, Pere Marquette, Starved Rock, and Volo Bog.
According to the ICF, the posters and sticker packs will debut at the Illinois State Fair, running August 7-17, where a select group of four posters—Starved Rock, Giant City, New Salem, and Pere Marquette—will be available on site for $10 each. The full series and sticker packs can be purchased online at ilconservation.org/shop, with some designs available by pre-order.
“These posters are more than souvenirs. They help fund real conservation work and support the places we all love,” said Jenny Vaughn, ICF’s executive director. Proceeds from the sale benefit Illinois parks statewide through ongoing improvement and maintenance projects.
