Lincoln, IL – The National Weather Service in Central Illinois has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for counties north of Interstate 72, where another round of accumulating snow is forecast to move in Monday afternoon and continue into Monday night.

Snowfall totals are expected to range between 1 and 4 inches, with the heaviest accumulations near and west of the Illinois River, including Peoria, Bloomington, and Galesburg. The snow will develop during the afternoon and intensify toward the evening commute, creating slick and snow-covered roads across much of central and northern portions of the state.

Forecasters say travel conditions will deteriorate through Monday evening, particularly on untreated roadways, bridges, and overpasses. Visibility may also be reduced at times during heavier snow bands.

Snow is expected to taper off late Monday night, though patchy slick spots could persist into Tuesday morning as temperatures remain near or below freezing. Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, slow down, and leave additional space between vehicles.

This latest system follows the weekend’s heavy snowfall across Illinois and marks another reminder that winter weather hazards can quickly return, even with moderate accumulations.
