Kankakee, IL – The Salvation Army is calling for volunteers to serve as bell ringers across Kankakee County this holiday season, with shifts available from Friday, November 3 through Sunday, December 24.
According to The Salvation Army Kankakee office, bell ringers are essential in raising funds that support local families in need during the holidays and throughout the year. Volunteers will be stationed outside participating stores and community locations, collecting donations in the group’s iconic red kettles.
Anyone interested in helping can sign up online at RegisterToRing.com or call the Kankakee Salvation Army directly at 815-933-8421. Shifts are flexible, making it possible for individuals, families, churches, and community groups to get involved.
The Red Kettle Campaign is one of the Salvation Army’s most recognized efforts nationwide. Local funds collected help provide meals, shelter, holiday assistance, and other vital services for residents in Kankakee County and surrounding areas.
Organizers stress that even a few hours of bell ringing can make a meaningful difference in the community. “Every dollar collected stays local,” the Salvation Army noted in its announcement.
Those who cannot volunteer are encouraged to stop by a kettle location and donate during the holiday season. In addition to holiday meals and toy drives, money raised during the campaign supports emergency housing, food pantries, disaster relief, youth programs, and utility assistance for struggling families year-round.
