Elburn, IL – A man was seriously injured Tuesday after allegedly falling from a moving vehicle on Illinois Route 38 near Elburn, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, deputies responded to the scene around 4:11 p.m. Tuesday on Illinois Route 38, just west of Route 47, for reports of a single-vehicle incident involving injuries. Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle, a 2017 black Toyota sedan, was being driven by 38-year-old Judy Moreno, with her brother, 40-year-old Jose Moreno, in the passenger seat.

Sheriff’s officials said Judy Moreno told investigators her brother appeared to be rolling down the window when he unexpectedly opened the passenger door and fell from the moving car. He was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. No additional updates on his condition have been released.

Authorities have not disclosed the home addresses of those involved as the Investigations Division continues to contact family members.

The Kane County Investigations Division is actively investigating the incident with support from the Kane County Drone Unit and the Office of Emergency Management.
