Springfield, IL – A frost advisory has been issued for several Illinois counties overnight into Saturday morning. The advisory is set to affect Logan, De Witt, Menard, Sangamon, Christian, and Macon counties from 2 AM to 9 AM CDT.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to dip as low as 32°F, which could lead to frost formation in these areas. Sensitive outdoor plants, including flowers and vegetables, are at risk of being harmed or even killed if left uncovered during this time.

The frost advisory also extends to portions of south-central and southwest Illinois, including Macoupin, Montgomery, Bond, and surrounding counties. For these areas, the advisory will be in effect from 3 AM to 8 AM CDT Saturday, with temperatures dropping to 33°F.

Residents are urged to take precautions to protect tender plants by covering them or bringing them indoors overnight. With spring temperatures fluctuating, the frost could impact garden growth if proper steps aren’t taken.

For more information, the National Weather Service advises local communities to stay updated on weather conditions.
