Gibson City, IL – Authorities are continuing their search for a 70-year-old man who was allegedly naked during a confrontation that ended with two police officers shot early Saturday in Gibson City.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation, officers from the Gibson City Police Department (GCPD) and Ford County Sheriff’s Department (FCSD) responded around 2:31 a.m. to a report of a naked man in the 100 block of Ash Street. The man was later identified as David Jordan.

Investigators said that as officers attempted to make contact with Jordan at his residence, a GCPD officer and a FCSD deputy were struck by gunfire. Neither officer discharged their weapon. Both were injured, though officials have not released details on their conditions.

Police are asking residents and businesses to review any security camera footage from the time of the incident to locate Jordan. Tips can be submitted through ISP’s Crime Tip website or by calling local police. Authorities warn that Jordan, who was allegedly unclothed during the incident, should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who spots him is urged to call 911 immediately.

The ISP has released images of Jordan to aid in his identification.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
