FRANKFORT, Ill. — Justin Brown and Terwon Matthews, both from Illinois, have received sentences for a shocking series of crimes that included a harrowing robbery at a Chase Bank and an abduction from a residence.

The sentences, delivered by Will County Circuit Judge David Carlson, underscore the severity of their actions and the justice system’s commitment to public safety.

On November 16, 2019, Brown and Matthews confronted a woman at a Chase Bank ATM in Frankfort, forcefully seizing her belongings and compelling her to withdraw funds. They then embarked on a spree of armed robberies at south suburban stores, holding her captive. A month later, the duo again targeted a man at his New Lenox home, abducting him and subjecting him to yet another nightmarish spree of armed robberies.

Brown and Matthews will each serve 30 years behind bars for their roles in these terrifying incidents. Additionally, they face 18 months of supervised release upon completion of their sentences.
