Kankakee, IL – NFL running back Jonathan Ward returned to his hometown this week to host his 6th annual youth football camp at Kankakee High School, drawing more than 100 local children for a day of training, inspiration, and fun.
According to BZA Public Relations, the event was held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and was supported by MAVRX Sports Housing and Pyramid Sports & Entertainment. The day included skill development drills, scrimmages, guest appearances, and giveaways for participating youth ages 5 to 17.
Ward, a current member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a graduate of Central Michigan University, launched the free football camp as part of a long-standing commitment to give back to the Kankakee community. His team emphasized that the camp is more than just athletic development—it’s also focused on mentoring and character-building for local youth.
The day featured a 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. skills and drills session, followed by a 7-on-7 scrimmage from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Youth participants also received free lunch and swag bags as part of the Pitch Initiative, a MAVRX-powered outreach program.
Amber Ridenhour-Palmore, President and Partner at MAVRX, was also in attendance alongside camp organizers, coaches, and volunteers.
Organizers say the annual event continues to grow in attendance and local support, offering a valuable opportunity for youth to learn from professionals and foster positive community connections.
