ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Pockets of dense fog are blanketing portions of eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois early Saturday, briefly reducing visibility along I-70, I-55, and rural river valleys. Conditions are expected to improve quickly after sunrise, setting the stage for a dry, sunny stretch through the Columbus Day holiday.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, a Hazardous Weather Outlook remains in effect for early morning fog impacting commuters and early travelers across the metro region. Drivers are urged to slow down and use low beams until midmorning when the fog begins to lift. The rest of the weekend looks tranquil with warm afternoons and crisp, comfortable evenings — ideal for outdoor fall activities, pumpkin patch visits, or early holiday travel planning.

Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s through Monday, with light winds and clear skies dominating the region. The calm pattern will persist into midweek, offering excellent visibility for leaf-viewing drives along the Missouri River and through St. Charles and Franklin counties.

By midweek, slightly cooler air may filter in, trimming highs into the mid-70s by Wednesday. No rain is expected, and no frost or freeze concerns are on the horizon yet. Residents should continue enjoying outdoor plans but remain cautious in early-morning low-lying areas where fog may redevelop on calm, clear nights.
