According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for much of eastern Missouri and western Illinois, including St. Louis City, Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles, Monroe, and St. Clair counties. The combination of soaring temperatures and oppressive humidity is creating life-threatening conditions, especially for those without access to air conditioning.
