Paducah, Ky. – Morning commuters across the Quad State region may run into dangerous driving conditions as dense fog blankets parts of southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, western Kentucky, and Middle Tennessee.
According to the National Weather Service offices in Paducah and Nashville, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. CDT for southern Illinois and neighboring areas, and until 9 a.m. CDT for Middle Tennessee. Visibility in some locations has dropped to a quarter-mile or less, particularly near lakes, rivers, and low-lying bridges.
In Kentucky, cities like Paducah, Mayfield, and Murray are waking up to thick fog. Southeast Missouri is also affected, including Cape Girardeau and New Madrid. In Illinois, Metropolis and Marion drivers should expect delays. Across Tennessee, the fog stretches from Clarksville and Nashville to Cookeville and Crossville, impacting key routes such as I-24, I-40, and I-65.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra stopping distance. The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning as temperatures rise.
