St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis area is under an Extreme Heat Warning through 7 p.m. Tuesday, with heat index values climbing as high as 113°F. This scorching weather is impacting cities across Illinois and Missouri, including St. Louis, Belleville, Washington, and Union, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service, dangerously hot conditions are expected to persist across multiple counties in Illinois (Madison, Monroe, St. Clair) and Missouri (St. Louis City, Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles). The heat, combined with high humidity, will put significant strain on vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children, and outdoor workers.

The risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke is elevated. Authorities are advising residents to stay indoors, drink plenty of fluids, and wear lightweight clothing.
