St. Charles, Ill. – A Montgomery man has been sentenced to natural life in prison for the murder of his wife on October 31, 2022, in their Montgomery home.
According to Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser, Timothy Gordon, 48, was sentenced by Judge Clint Hull to life without parole for the first-degree murder of his wife, Yahaira. Gordon received the maximum firearm sentence enhancement due to the use of a gun in the crime.
Six weeks before the murder, Yahaira filed for divorce but allowed Gordon to live in the basement while she stayed upstairs with her mother, aunt, and four children. On Halloween morning, learning of a potential order of protection against him, Gordon entered the bedroom where Yahaira was recording him and shot her in the temple, killing her instantly.
Gordon’s criminal history includes armed violence, robbery, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated DUI, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He was on parole at the time of the murder.
Assistant State’s Attorney Greg Sams emphasized the heinous nature of the crime and Gordon’s extensive criminal history in seeking the life sentence.
