Streator, IL – A Streator man riding an ATV allegedly pointed a firearm at pedestrians Tuesday evening, prompting a police response and multiple felony charges.
According to the Streator Police Department, officers responded around 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, to reports of a man on a white ATV brandishing a gun near the 300 block of South Everett Street. The suspect, later identified as Marcus Brewer, 27, was reportedly wearing a red T-shirt and a yellow rain jacket.
Upon locating the man, officers observed the ATV moving into the rear yard of a residence. A protective pat-down was conducted, during which Brewer allegedly admitted to carrying a firearm in his pocket. Police recovered a .38-caliber revolver and took Brewer into custody.
Brewer was transported to the Streator Police Department for formal processing and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), unlawful possession of a weapon, armed violence (felony), and operating an unlicensed motor vehicle on a roadway. He is currently being held at the LaSalle County Jail pending a bond hearing later this week.
The incident follows a separate arrest one day later in Streator involving a firearm and controlled substances. Authorities emphasized that while the cases are unrelated, they reflect ongoing concerns about illegal firearm possession and drug-related offenses in the community.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
