Bradley, IL – An Illinois man convicted of killing and dismembering his stepmother in the 1990s faces new charges for domestic battery.
Bradley police arrested Jeffrey Knight, 63, at his South Schuyler Avenue home on Wednesday night. His live-in girlfriend accused him of striking her in the face with an object during a dispute.
According to police, Knight was sentenced to life in prison for the stepmother’s murder. His sentence was later reduced to 30 years, leading to his parole in January.
Authorities said Knight and his girlfriend share the home where the alleged attack occurred. Investigators noted visible injuries on the victim, which prompted Knight’s immediate arrest.
Knight’s original conviction included dismembering his stepmother’s body after the killing, making his release controversial. Police stated Knight remains in custody while prosecutors prepare charges. The victim’s condition has not been disclosed.
