Mahomet, IL – Downtown Mahomet ushers in the holiday season tonight as the Village Christmas Weekend officially kicks off with a parade, live music, Santa visits, and a full lineup of family-friendly events continuing into Saturday.

The parade begins at 5:45 PM Friday on Main Street and concludes with Santa riding a firetruck alongside local meteorologist Kevin Lighty. Afterward, Santa will visit the holiday tunnel before greeting families at The Nate Evans Group office.

According to the Mahomet Police Department, tonight’s festivities include madrigal singers from 6–7 PM, multiple food trucks, free horse-drawn carriage rides from 5–8 PM, hot chocolate and desserts at Busey Bank, indoor vendors, and live entertainment from Maggie Baker Productions.

Saturday’s schedule starts early with Donuts with Santa at 8 AM at Mahomet-Seymour High School. While most slots are full, organizers said a few 11:45 AM openings remain for families who want to join.

A Kids’ Shop will run 10 AM–2 PM at the Masonic Lodge, giving children a chance to choose and wrap gifts with volunteer assistance. Additional events include ornament decorating at the Mahomet Public Library from noon to 2 PM and student-directed holiday plays at Mahomet-Seymour High School at 11 AM and 1 PM.

Monday and Tuesday’s “Pizza With Santa” nights at Filippo’s have already sold out.
