Paducah, KY – A major winter storm is set to impact parts of southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri, bringing up to 7 inches of snow and hazardous travel conditions from Tuesday through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 9 a.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday for southeast Missouri, while southern Illinois and western Kentucky will be under the warning from noon Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday. Snowfall totals of 4 to 7 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

Light snow could begin early Tuesday, creating slick roads before heavier snowfall develops in the afternoon and evening. The storm is expected to impact major cities including Cape Girardeau, Paducah, Evansville, and Owensboro, making the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes difficult.

Residents are advised to prepare for dangerous road conditions and avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is required, keeping an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water in the vehicle is recommended.
