Springfield, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has issued a Restricted Boating Area on the Fox River from Pistakee Lake to the Bridge Street Bridge in Millington, effective Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.
According to the department, high water levels, swift currents, floating debris, submerged structures, and piers have created hazardous conditions for navigation. The advisory covers Lake, McHenry, Kane, and Kendall Counties. Officials, including Lockmaster Joe Farej and Kane County EMA Director Scott Buziecki, concurred with the assessment, emphasizing the danger to both boaters and emergency personnel. The restriction will be marked by buoys, signs, and manned watercraft, and remain in effect for up to 90 days or until conditions improve.
