Davenport, IA – A widespread winter system is set to bring the first meaningful snowfall of the week to eastern Iowa, western Illinois, and northeast Missouri today, with slippery travel possible through the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, multiple Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across the region, with snow arriving in waves from mid-morning through this afternoon. Totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected by the time precipitation tapers off around midnight Monday.

The earliest impacts will begin around 9 a.m. across southeast Iowa, including Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Jefferson, Henry, Des Moines, Van Buren, and Lee counties, as well as Hancock County in Illinois and Scotland and Clark counties in northeast Missouri. A second advisory area activates at noon, covering Muscatine and Scott counties in Iowa and extending across portions of north-central and west-central Illinois, including Rock Island, Whiteside, Bureau, Putnam, Mercer, Henderson, Warren, McDonough, and Henry counties.

By afternoon, snow is expected to spread across the wider Quad Cities metro and nearby communities, creating slick roads, reduced visibility, and slowdowns on major routes such as I-74, I-80, U.S. 34, U.S. 61, and U.S. 67. The weather service warns that hazardous conditions may significantly impact the Monday evening commute, especially as temperatures drop toward freezing.

Travelers are urged to slow down, allow for extra stopping distance, and monitor updated road reports.
