Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – Clear skies and calm winds will bring sub-freezing temperatures to parts of Iowa and Illinois Tuesday night, especially north of I-80, raising concerns for frost-sensitive plants and early morning travel.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, temperatures will dip into the upper 20s and 30s overnight before warming into the 60s by Wednesday afternoon. While Wednesday will start chilly, calm weather gives way to a more active pattern beginning Thursday.
Storms are expected to move into the region Thursday morning, with additional rounds of rain and thunderstorms likely through Friday evening. The NWS warns that some of these storms may be strong to severe, particularly Thursday night into Friday, bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail.
Residents in Davenport, Moline, and surrounding areas should monitor local updates, especially if planning travel or outdoor activities later this week. Farmers and gardeners are urged to protect frost-sensitive vegetation overnight and prepare for possible heavy rain and gusty winds.
The threat of severe weather could extend into Friday night. Additional updates and warnings may be issued as conditions evolve.
