Davenport, Iowa – Scattered showers and humid air will linger across eastern Iowa and western Illinois this weekend, with pop-up thunderstorms expected daily and highs reaching near 90°F by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, areas along and south of I-80 face the highest storm chances, with precipitation chances ranging from 20% to 50% each day. Saturday and Sunday will be especially warm and sticky, with highs from 82° to 90° and lows in the 60s.

Localized downpours, lightning, and gusty winds are possible, particularly in the afternoons. Storm chances drop slightly Saturday morning but return by nightfall and continue into Sunday evening. Urban areas like Davenport, Moline, Galesburg, and Muscatine should prepare for sudden rain and brief flooding on poorly drained roads.

If you’re traveling or attending weekend events, keep a weather app handy and avoid outdoor plans during peak storm hours. Residents should also check gutters and secure outdoor furniture ahead of possible wind gusts.

Rain chances continue into early next week, with more widespread storms possible by Monday.
