Davenport, IA – Heavy rainfall and scattered severe storms are possible across central and northern Illinois and parts of Iowa beginning Wednesday and continuing into Thursday morning. Residents should prepare for potential lightning, damaging winds, and large hail.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities IL, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move across the area today and tonight. A few severe storms are possible, especially in Illinois. Locally heavy rainfall is also a concern, potentially leading to localized flooding. Spotter activation may be needed this morning into the early afternoon to monitor developing conditions.

The storm system will persist into Friday morning. Isolated severe storms are possible north of Highway 30 or north of a line from Cedar Rapids to Clinton to Sterling Rock Falls. Travel conditions could be impacted by heavy downpours and strong winds. Commuters should remain vigilant and adjust plans as needed. Charge all electronic devices. Secure outdoor items that could be blown away by strong gusts.

The Quad Cities area will see a high of 70°F today, with showers and thunderstorms likely. Wednesday night brings a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low around 68°F. As Juneteenth approaches, Thursday will see a high of 85°F under mostly sunny skies, a welcome break before another chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night.

Looking ahead, Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 91°F, feeling warm for any outdoor Juneteenth celebrations. Friday night stays clear with a low around 76°F. The weekend forecast for the Quad Cities shows hot and sunny conditions. Saturday and Sunday will both be hot and sunny, with highs near 96°F and 98°F respectively. Sunday night also remains clear, with a low around 75°F. Early next week, Monday and Tuesday will continue the warm trend with highs in the lower 90s, offering a glimpse of summer heat.
