Davenport, Iowa – Rain will begin impacting roads within the next few hours, with two rounds of steady rainfall expected to drop up to 2 inches across eastern Iowa and western Illinois by early Friday.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, rain chances climb to 80–100% overnight with temperatures falling into the mid-30s to low 50s. The first wave arrives tonight, followed by a second, heavier round late Thursday into early Friday morning.
Cities including Davenport, Rock Island, Moline, and Burlington could see ponding on roads and reduced visibility during both the overnight hours and the Thursday evening commute. While severe storms are not expected, isolated thunderstorms may develop.
By Thursday night, rainfall totals between 1 and 2 inches could lead to minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Drivers should avoid water-covered roads and allow extra time, especially during peak travel hours.
Rain tapers off Friday morning, with cooler temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Additional scattered showers remain possible into Saturday before conditions gradually improve.
Residents should monitor for updates as the heaviest rain shifts through Thursday night into early Friday.
