Naperville, IL – A two-story residential home in Naperville sustained an estimated $100,000 in damages after a structure fire Tuesday night in the 1000 block of Frances Court.

According to Naperville Fire Department officials, the Emergency Communications Center received a call at 8:24 p.m. Tuesday reporting smoke coming from the roof of the building. A general alarm assignment was immediately dispatched, bringing three engines, two ladder trucks, a heavy rescue squad, two medic units, and two battalion commanders to the scene.

By 8:30 p.m., Engine 3 arrived and located heavy smoke on the first floor of the home. Firefighters encountered flames on both the first and second floors, worsened by a large hole that had burned through the second floor due to the intensity of the blaze. Crews aggressively attacked the fire and were able to bring it under control within 60 minutes. Overhaul and salvage operations continued for an additional three hours.

Fire officials confirmed no one was home during the incident, based on extensive primary and secondary searches of the residence.

At 6:14 a.m. Wednesday, crews were called back to the scene after a passerby reported additional light smoke. Firefighters discovered a small amount of smoke and heat in the roof area and quickly addressed the concern by stretching a hose line and soaking down the area.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by multiple agencies, including the Naperville Police Department, Transportation and Engineering Department, and nearby fire protection districts from Wheaton, Lisle-Woodridge, Warrenville, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, and Oswego.

The fire remains under investigation by the department’s investigations team. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The structure has been deemed uninhabitable.
