Champaign, IL – A freeze warning has been issued for much of central, east-central, and southeast Illinois as temperatures are expected to dip to as low as 30°F to 32°F early Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service issued the warning, which will remain in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM CDT on Saturday. Areas affected include cities such as Champaign, Urbana, Mattoon, Effingham, and Lawrenceville, with temperatures dropping overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, the freeze could lead to significant impacts, especially on sensitive vegetation. Homeowners are advised to cover plants or bring them indoors to prevent frost damage. Unprotected outdoor plumbing could also be at risk, possibly leading to freezing and pipe damage.
