Moline, IL – A detached garage fire erupted Sunday afternoon in Moline, drawing a swift response from the Moline Fire Department and neighboring agencies.

According to a press release issued Monday, crews were dispatched around 1:37 p.m. to a residence on Avenue of the Cities where they found a detached garage and two vehicles fully engulfed in flames. Thick black smoke from the fire was visible from several blocks away, fire officials said.

Firefighters launched an aggressive exterior attack and were able to contain the blaze before it could spread to nearby structures. While the main residence and surrounding properties sustained heat damage, officials noted that the rapid response helped prevent more significant destruction. No injuries were reported.

Power was temporarily disconnected to the affected home and one neighboring residence as a precaution. Both homes were deemed habitable following the incident, according to the Moline Fire Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations at 309-524-2250.

Mutual aid was provided by the Rock Island Fire Department, Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, and East Moline Fire Department. MidAmerican Energy also responded to assist in securing utilities and addressing electrical hazards at the scene.
